March 18, Who is my audience?

According to my Google-Analytics, just a very few students dare to look at these pages. If you are one of them, and want me continue this blog, drop me an email right now. Thanks. You may also have comments on the previous topics or recommend some new ones, if you wish.

March 16, Risk of a two stock portfolio

The basic notion of risk in Finance (there are many, I mean standard deviation or variance) is not very hard to understand. But there is a leap when we look at the risk of a portfolio consisting of more than one financial asset. In the most simple case (two-stock portfolio) the rho-coefficient makes some students confused. I like everthing to visualize; easier to learn - easier to remember. We have a nice tool that helps us every time when we need to see a financial question/problem: Microsoft Excel. Please look at this file on visualizing this one. Change any number, the risk-return line will move accordingly.

March 7, Corporate governance

This article (click!) will give you a short summary on corporate governance issues from a individual (small) investor's point of view. If you do not have much time or are too bored with reading it all, please just look at Figure 1, Figure 2, Figure 3. Those figures will help you to understand and memorize some part of what Chapters 1-2 may explain too long.

March 6, CFO

Just a provocative article on roles of a "perfect" CFO. Look at it here. Any comments?

March 5, Accounting & Finance

I emphasized several times that Finance is not Accounting. Nevertheless financial managers need to understand acounting terms, and how its basics work. I found nice (and short) videos that will help you to refresh your Accounting knowledge.
